SurMigo is a singing-learning app made for children. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we never touch, and the choices you have as a parent.
SurMigo (“SurMigo,” “we,” “us”) is operated by SurMigo, an independent app studio based in India. We built SurMigo to teach children Indian classical singing through play, and we designed it to collect as little personal information as possible. This policy applies to the SurMigo Android app and the accounts created within it.
SurMigo is intended for children (typically ages 6–10) and must be set up and supervised by a parent or legal guardian. During onboarding we ask the parent to review this policy and provide verifiable consent before any child profile is created or any singing begins.
We handle children’s data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Where applicable, we also honour the principles of the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the “children’s data” provisions of the EU/UK GDPR. If you are a parent and believe your child provided information without your consent, contact us and we will delete it.
We collect only what the app needs to work and to save your child’s progress:
| Data | Why | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Parent name & email | Create and secure your account | Google Sign-In (you choose the account) |
| Child’s first name & age | Personalise lessons and show the right level | Entered by the parent |
| Practice results | Save scores, grades, streaks and progress | Created as your child practises |
| Consent record | Prove a parent agreed to this policy | Recorded when you tap “I understand & agree” |
| Usage & diagnostics | Understand which features are used and fix crashes | Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics |
| Push token | Send optional reminders/notifications | Firebase Cloud Messaging |
When your child sings, the microphone audio is analysed on the device to detect pitch and give feedback. If a practice recording is saved, it is stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone. We do not upload, transmit, or store your child’s voice recordings on our servers, and we cannot listen to them. You can delete recordings from within the app.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We use Google Firebase as our technology provider to store data and run the service. Depending on the feature, this includes Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, and App Check. Google processes this data on our behalf as our service provider. Your data is stored in Google’s Mumbai, India (asia-south1) region. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cloud data is hosted in India (asia-south1). Voice recordings remain on your own device and are never sent to the cloud. If you use the app from outside India, your information will be processed in India under this policy.
We keep your account and your child’s profile and progress until you ask us to delete them. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, or by emailing support@surmigo.com. On request we delete your parent account, every child profile, and all practice sessions and grades. Recordings stored on your device are removed when you delete them in-app or uninstall the app.
Data is encrypted in transit. All writes to our database go through secured Cloud Functions, and we use Google Play Integrity (App Check) to help ensure requests come from the genuine app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family’s information.
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your and your child’s personal data, and to withdraw consent. Under the DPDP Act you may also nominate someone to exercise these rights and raise a grievance with us. Contact support@surmigo.com and we will respond within the timeframes required by law.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update it here and, where appropriate, ask parents to review the changes in the app before continuing.
